Our Faith
We are a people rooted in Scripture, shaped by tradition, reason, and experience, and guided by grace in it’s many manifestations.

As part of The United Methodist Church, we believe God's grace is open to all, and therefore practice "open Communion"--meaning that anyone may participate in receiving Communion. We believe salvation is an open gift from God, accepted by individuals according to their own free will.

The sacraments of Baptism and Holy Communion as means of grace and signs of God’s covenant with us. We do not “re-baptize” people from other faith traditions within the Christian church family.

Like many other Christian groups, we affirm the beliefs expressed in the Apostles Creed. These include:

• The belief in one God, who is the Creator and sustainer of the universe.

• The belief in the Trinity, that there is one God in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

• The belief in the divinity of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, who is fully human and fully divine.

John Wesley, the founder of the Methodist movement, taught that we pursue our faith in community and action with others. We practice a social holiness. We insist that personal salvation always involves Christian mission and service to the world. The United Methodist Church has a long history of action and advocacy for social justice.

Our Commitments
In keeping with our Wesleyan heritage and the Social Principles of The United Methodist Church (For a full list of the social principles, refer to the current Book of Discipline for the United Methodist Church) we believe:

• Every person is of sacred worth, created in the image of God, and entitled to dignity, justice, and love.

• We seek to create inclusive and loving community across boundaries of race, gender, age, ability, sexual orientation, economic status, and nationality.

• We believe in the equal partnership of laity and clergy and celebrate the full inclusion in all areas of ministry and leadership without respect to gender, ability, sexual orientation, nationality or race including full support of women and LGBTQIA+ in service and ministry.

• We care for God’s creation and are committed to practices that reflect environmental stewardship and sustainability.

• We affirm the church’s role in advocating for peace, reconciliation, economic justice, human rights, and the common good.
