Raising Children in Today's World

What with the difficulties that many couples go through to have a child these days I am writing to you about our individual and corporate roles in raising children in today's world.
own?" What can we do to make a difference in the life of a child? Is a lost or needy child the responsibility of "someone else?"
 
I suppose by now it's becoming a cliché for some, but "no child left behind," whether you agree with it politically, or not, I believe, is a serious statement of belief in who we are as human beings, and a statement of faith regarding who we are as God's people. What I mean is that there are far too many kids being abused, forgotten and neglected globally! Just the numbers in Arizona are staggering. So what is our role in raising up children as productive adults? Do we have a part in raising "the neighbor's kid?" In what way are we to feel responsible for a kid who "is not our
we doing to make a difference in the life of a child who obviously needs us? Are we just too busy with our own "stuff?"
 
A friend of mine and his wife are foster parents. Over the years, they have provided a happy, healthy home for many foster children, including their 6 biological children. They are the kind of good Christian parents we would want for any kid, I think. They are the kind of people who have and will continue to go the distance to care for kids- any kid- anywhere- any time!
